Microsoft’s New Next Call Of Duty On Xbox Subscription!
Microsoft's monumental acquisition of the iconic 'Call of Duty' game franchise from Activision Blizzard in a staggering $69 billion deal on 13 October 2023, marked a significant shift in the gaming landscape. Since then, Microsoft has been independently selling Call of Duty titles. However, the company is now gearing up to make an even more groundbreaking move by launching the new 'Call of Duty' title on the Xbox subscription service.
This announcement will be made at the company’s highly anticipated annual Xbox showcase, scheduled for 9 June 2024. An anonymous person related to the matter shared the news of Microsoft's plan to release the new Call of Duty on the Xbox subscription service on 17 May. He didn’t share his name, as the information is private.
Microsoft created the Game Pass service in 2017 to break the dominance of PlayStation consoles made by Japanese competitor Sony Corp. Game Pass provides access to all games Xbox and other developers for a monthly fee.
In 2022, Microsoft reported having 25 million subscribers on Game Pass, but according to the company, the count has grown to 34 million subscribers. Analysts say Call of Duty has a huge fan base, and releasing a new title would attract more people to Xbox.
“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III” was released in November 2023 and is the second best-selling game of this year. According to industry tracker Circana, it’s just behind Sony's “Helldivers II.”
