The Most Common Windows 11 Issues: How To Fix Them?

Common Windows 11 Issues

Released on October 5, 2021, Windows 11 is at its early stage, and users have observed a few issues with Microsoft’s next-gen operating system. It is not surprising because nearly all newly introduced operating systems tend to have faults.

However, Microsoft has identified the common Windows 11 issues and quickly resolved them. But, if there is still a problem that is annoying you or hampering your day to day tasks on your computer,  we will help you out with this write-up compiled with Common Windows 11 Issues: How To Fix.

The Most Common Windows 11 Issues & Fixes

Problems with an operating system may differ from person to person based on their awareness; therefore, we will discuss different common Windows 11 issues and how to fix them one by one.

Can’t Upgrade to Windows 11

Microsoft allows users to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 at no cost, and it will notify for the upgrade when the right time comes. But, your system must fulfil certain requirements to handle this next-gen operating system. A computer must have a modern processor of TPM 2.0 chip, 4GB RAM and more than 64 GB of storage. If your PC does not match these specifications, you will end up hitting the walls. Being unable to upgrade their operating system to Windows 11 is one of the common Windows 11 issues reported by many users.

Some users might not even know whether their PC meets the Windows 11 requirements or not. One can ensure it by downloading ‘Microsoft’s PC Health Check App’ through the official website. This application will tell you what your PC requires to match the criteria of the Windows 11 upgrade.

If you have an older PC, it would probably not have enabled TPM 2.0. But don’t worry; you can enable it manually in your BIOS. To do this, reboot your PC, go to the BIOS menu and look if there is any setting to enable TPM. Enabling TMP will let you install Windows 11 easily.

Windows 11 is Running Slowly Or Freezes Frequently

One of the common Windows 11 issues reported by users is that it is running slowly on my PC or freezes my PC sometimes. Well, to get rid of this problem, you can try a few things. Make sure vital components of your PC, such as graphics cards, have updated drivers instead of Windows 10 drivers.

Otherwise, follow this step by step procedure:

  • Open Windows 11 ‘Settings’

  • Select ‘Windows Update’

  • Then ‘Advanced Options’

  • Look for ‘Optional Updates’

This is an alternative way to update the problematic drivers.

Once upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11, the older software of Windows 10 reduces the speed of the system. In such conditions, resetting your PC under the ‘Recovery’ menu can eliminate the clogging issue of the system. But, make sure you have kept a backup of all the saved files.

Windows 11 Is Unable To Find A Printer

Users are encountering common Windows 11 issues while trying to access a printer, especially those using the Windows 11 operating system in a business setup. Such issues mainly occur while accessing a printer in a shared network. Usually, when a new operating system is installed on a PC, it automatically downloads the required printer and other drivers. Still, a notorious bug restricts a system from downloading the correct drivers.

If you are working in a business setup, then ask the guy who handles the IT and hardware, to install the correct printer drivers on your system. On the other hand, if you need to install printer drivers on your personal computer, look for the printer manufacturer's support website and there you will get an alternative to download relevant drivers for your computer or laptop.

Windows 11 PC Is Out Of Disk Space

Those who have upgraded to Windows 11 from Windows 1o, might face the lower disk space issue in their PC as it is one of the common Windows 11 issues. Windows have a tendency to keep the file of the older operating system for the condition if the user wishes to return to the older version. But, the positive thing about this tendency is that Windows keeps these files only for ten days to give users a chance to reconsider. Once this time slot is over, Windows automatically removes these files to create some space in the disk.

But, if you can’t wait till the next 10 days after the upgrade and decided to go with Windows 11, then you still have an alternative for removing older files manually. To clean up your disk:

  • Go to the search section of Windows 11 and Type ‘Disk’

  • Here you will get a ‘Disk Clean Up Tool’

  • Run it on your Disk ‘C’ to scan the files associated with “Previous Windows Installation(s)” and select to delete them.

Thus, you will be able to clean up a bit of space in your disk. If you still want more space on your disk, then you can uninstall some unnecessary and unused apps from your computer or system.

Can’t Find My Files in Windows 11 Search

Another addition to common Windows 11 issues is users can’t find their files in Windows 11 search. One can re-scan PC to find the desired file to resolve this issue. But, you should keep in mind that Windows take a bit of time to create a search index, especially when the disks are packed with files. If it's been a few hours to complete the Windows upgrade, have patience and give it some time because the process is running in the background.

If the problem is still there after a few days, then :

  • Open Windows search and type ‘Index’

  • Click on ‘Indexing Options’

  • Select ‘Advanced’ among the appeared options

  • Hit the button to ‘Rebuild’ the search index

Now, you will see the rebuilding process has started in the background, and you can continue doing your routine work while the process is running.

Bottom Line

Such distractions are pretty annoying, particularly while performing your professional duties. Many among us might be working from home and wouldn’t get instant support from the IT section of their offices. Therefore, we hope this write up would be beneficial to resolve common Windows 11 issues on their own.
