Oppo R17 Pro the flagship killer?

The Oppo R17 Pro was launched way back in August 2018 and is finally arriving in the Indian market on the 7th of December as an Amazon exclusive product at a reasonable price of Rs. 45,990. With an interesting eye-catching design and impressive night camera performance, the Oppo R17 Pro is expected to go head to head against the One Plus T and a few other flagship Smartphones.

In the Box

On opening the box, the first thing you get to see is the device itself followed by an even smaller box that holds in a transparent phone case, a SIM ejector tool and few user manuals. Beneath you get a pair of earphones resembling the look of the Apple ear pods, Super VOOC flash charger, and a data cable.

Camera

The most interesting thing about this phone is its camera, the Oppo R17 pro is rocking a triple camera setup, first in the camera alignment comes the 3D TOF( Time of Flight) camera followed by the main 12MP ( variable aperture f/1.5 to f/2.4) + secondary 20MP (f/2.6) camera. Images in broad daylight are rich with details and true colors. The variable aperture of the 12 MP captures one of the best looking photos at night(low lighting conditions). All, when combined with the secondary 20 MP camera of the Oppo R17 Pro, is capable of capturing one of the best bokeh shots on a Smartphone.

On the front, Oppo R17 Pro has 25 MP (f/2.0) camera that shoots quality selfies containing desired details with the help of the implemented AI features which is also capable of handling low lighting scenarios really well.

Also, the stabilization in video recordings of the Oppo R17 pro is at the next level.

Display and Design

The water-drop notch style display of the Oppo R17 Pro is a Full HD AMOLED display with a 91.5% screen is to body ratio protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. The display is idle for video playbacks with no viewing angle issues. The display is also home to the inbuilt screen fingerprint sensor which works amazingly fast. Though the attractive color scheme of the Oppo R17 Pro gives it an interesting look but the metal back has left out the wireless charging feature.

Processor, RAM and Battery

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 is a questionable choice by Oppo for the Oppo R17 Pro but, the performance of the phone is remarkable when paired with the 8GB RAM which can play most games at high settings. The battery of choice here a 3700 mAh which can fully charge up to 100% in just under 30 minutes if charged with the stock super VOOC charger.
