Apple Increases App Download Limit To 200 MB Over Cellular Data
There is a safety protocol to block users from accidentally downloading a large file update over cellular data. Sometimes, the limit makes trouble on downloading content over mobile data. In which, downloading limit can be too small or less. Previously the limit was from 100 MB to 150 MB. Apple has recently announced to increase the App store’s cellular data download limit from 150 MB to 200 MB. It means iPhone users can now download and update apps up to 200 MB. It is done only from the App Store by using your mobile data.
During the year 2017 Apple increased the download limit over cellular data which is from 100 MB to 150 MB. And this change was only for the arrival of iOS 11. This update also includes the introduction of a redesigned App Store. Before that, at the arrival of iOS 7, the standard limit was 100MB. In the lead of WWDC 2019, Apple has now again increased their download limit. After testing, we conclude that the 200MB download limit is now live for iPhone users.
Until the revelation of the reason behind the increase in download limit, it is most likely due to apps growing in size over the years, alongside the size of updates for heavy games like PUBG which often cross the limit. Apple should implement a multi-step protocol to make sure those users don’t accidentally download a very large file.
