Honor 8X Full Specs And Review, How It Actually Handles Day to Day Life

Honor 8x smartphone

Honor 8X has been launched as budget segment Smartphone priced at around Rs. 15000 (aprrox. $210 USD). Honor Smartphones compete well with the budget range Xiaomi Smart phones and the new Realme U1 so, this review is going to be an interesting one. The Honor 8x is packed with features in a compact elegant body.

Camera

Now, we would like to talk about Dual Rear facing camera which has the 20 MP (f/1.8) acting as the primary and the secondary 2 MP plays the role of a depth sensor, the overall UI of the camera is quite simple and offers modes like Aperture, Night mode, Bokeh/ Portrait and Video. The AI powered Rear camera does a decent job in daylight, but at the same time it tends to over saturate the images by adding contrast to it. In low light the rear camera performs, aveagely with tons of missing details when observed carefully.

The front facing camera is a 16 MP front facing also performs decently at the price, but the AI mode again shatters the natural experience of capturing selfies. However, additional features like Slow-Mo, Pro Mode, Panorama, AR Lens, HDR and Time Lapse are always great to have in a Smartphone’s Camera at this range

While fans don’t get the option to record videos in 4K, being limited to just 1080p with no form of video stabilization was quite disappointing

                          .

Display and Design

The Honor 8X is featuring a 6.50 inch  IPS LCD notch display, which has a resolution of 1080 by 2340 pixels and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Protection out of the box. Viewing angles are sharp and bright even when used outdoors. But what really attracts fans to Honor phones is its elegant looking design. The fingerprint is embedded perfect behind which is super responsive also; the camera bump on the rear adds a premium look to the phone. There is Micro USB on the bottom, but seriously, we would have preferred a USB-C port at this point of the year, although the 3.5 mm headphone jack and the triple SIM and SD card slot was nice to see.

Processor, RAM, and Battery

Though the average performance of Honor 8X in terms of camera might bother fans a little bit. The  HiSilicon Kirin 710 SOC processor on the other hand, when paired with the 4GB RAM makes multitasking really smooth without having the need to kill other running apps in the background. The GPU Turbo comes out of the box with this device which allows lag free experience and improved  battery usage on most heavy games like Asphalt 9 and PUBG. Powering the Honor 8X is a 3750 mAh battery which is just enough to get it through a day despite its huge 6.5 inch display.
