Realme U1 the new budget king Smartphone?

Realme U1

Realme U1 is the first budget segment Smartphone announced for the Realme U series. The device is an Amazon exclusive product priced at Rs. 11,999. Previously Realme has hyped up many fans due to its past success with the Realme 1 and Realme 2 Pro. The Realme 1 is said to be a selfie-centric Smartphone and with no doubts has gathered a lot of attention. Below are our brief review and specifications of the Realme U1.

In the box

The first thing you get in the box is a small paper box that holds a transparent case and user manual, underneath is the device itself, and finally, you have the mini USB cable and the charging adapter.

Camera

Since the Realme U1is a selfie-focused Smartphone, it's only fair if we talk about the front camera first which features a 25 MP camera with Sony IMX576 sensor that captures quality selfies, with decent edge detection and the annoying pigmentation of the beauty mode (which can be disabled).

The new super vivid mode enhances the colour of the images resulting in shots with crisper and more vibrant colours, the time lapse and slow motion feature are always nice to see. On the Rear, we get to see a dual camera setup with the 13 MP as the primary and the secondary 2 MP acting as a depth sensor. Images captured with the rear are bright and sharp in broad daylight scenarios and surprisingly offer sharper details than Redmi Note 6 Pro when shot in the manual mode.

However, it is disappointing to shoot videos in 1080p as the Realme U1 does not support 4K recording nor EIS.

Display and Design

The Real me U1 has gone with the dewdrop notch style display with a resolution of 1080 by 2340 pixels. If the notch bothers, it can be easily toggled off from the settings. The glass back gives the Realme U1 a stunning premium design but at the cost of attracting a lot of smudges and fingerprint marks. The fingerprint sensor is perfectly placed on the back for easy access and is super responsive.

Processor, RAM, and Battery

The Realme U1 runs on the new Mediatek Helio P70  which is clocked at 2.1 GHz octa-core processor. The 4GB RAM helps in smooth multitasking which when paired with P70 processor also, it can run almost all heavy games like PUBG and Asphalt 8 at a decent frame rate. The 3500 mAh battery powers the Realme U1 and can last up to a day on an average use.
