Nikon Z6III Review: The Specifications And Shortcomings

Nikon Z6III Review Unmasking The Real Performance

All photographers are aware of how great Nikon cameras are. This Japan-based company has launched the Nikon Z6III, the third-generation full-frame mirrorless camera, which is far better than the Z6II Nikon camera. But this camera also has some flaws. Hence, before you dash to the store to purchase this camera, it’s better to learn what it offers to photographers. Here is a detailed Nikon Z6III review to help you. So, let’s begin.

Nikon Z6 III Specs

First of all, let’s check out the Nikon Z6 III specs, and then we will move further in this review. These specs are taken from Digital Photography

  • 24MP partially stacked  CMOS sensor
  • 14fps with mech shutter, 20fps e-shutter, and up to 1000 Raw files
  • Up to 60fps image in full resolution and 120fps with APS-C (Advanced Photo System-Classic) crop
  • Image stabilisation up to 8.0 stops
  • 5.76M dot EVF (Electronic Viewfinder) with elevated brightness and wider colour range
  • Fully articulated 3.2” 2.1M dot rear screen
  • 6k/60p N-Raw video, 6k/30p ProRes Raw
  • 5.4k/60p H.2.65 video
  • Pre-burst capture, pixel-shift high-res mode

What’s in the Nikon Z6 III?

In this Nikon Z6III review, we will better understand the camera specs.

Body and Handling

The Z6 III Nikon camera body is made of magnesium alloy and a thermoplastic composite mixture and is almost the same size as the Z8. Like its predecessor, Z6II, this camera offers several buttons that serve different purposes, such as zooming, playing, operating modelling flash, controlling the lock, etc.

24MP Partially Stacked CMOS Sensor

One of the best things we found while preparing the Nikon Z6III review was the 24MP sensor. It uses an additional silicon layer so that the readout circuitry works better, enabling faster data handling. Due to this, the Nikon Z6 III can deliver full-width 6k video at up to 60p in N-Raw mode and an e-shutter flash sync speed of 1/60 sec. Though the Sony A7 IV has a better sensor with 33MP, this camera is also not that bad.

Enhanced AF

The Z6 III Nikon camera has improved autofocus, adding 3D tracking and multiple subject detection. According to the company, this camera has 20% faster AF than the Z6II. Moreover, the camera can focus down to -10 EV without a Starlight EF mode. It can detect several objects like dogs, cats, birds, cars, trains, etc.

Cloud Access

The best feature of this Nikon Z6III review is its Cloud access service. This is the first Nikon camera to offer this service. You can upload images to the cloud and send them to other storage devices and social media.

Viewfinder

Among the major Nikon Z6 III specs is the 5.76M dots viewfinder panel, which has a higher brightness. The panel can brighten up to 4000 nits and cover the DCI P3 gamut, but you need to adjust the settings for that manually.

Articulated Rear Screen

Another point to consider in this Nikon Z6III review is the articulated rear screen. The Z6 III Nikon is the first in the series to gain a fully articulated rear screen with a 3.2” LCD panel with 2.1M dots.

Battery

Nikon Z6III has the same EN-EL15c battery as its predecessors, offering 390 rear LCD shots and 360 viewfinder shots per charge. With the power-saving mode, this number increases to 410 and 380, respectively. The camera can be charged with a USB, but using USB-PD chargers is better.

Image and Video Quality

The Z6 III Nikon's image quality is great, with high-detail capturing. Meanwhile, all the codecs offer 4k or higher resolution with full-width sensors. The Raw mods allow 6k or 4k video recording, while gamma-encoded offers 5.4k or UHD 4k recording.

After reading this Nikon Z6III review, you have learned about this camera. Based on Nikon Z6 III specs, we can say this camera is definitely worth the money, but it costs over Rs 2 lakh, which is a high price. Also, the battery life is not that good compared to competitors. So, it’s up to you whether to buy this camera.
