India has shown significant growth in the field of technology and innovation, securing 49th rank in the NRI 2024. Last year, it was in the 60th place in this index.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting addressed the index on social media, stating in a post that “India has improved its position by eleven spots and is now placed at 49 rank as per the Network Readiness Index 2024 published by Portulans Institute, an independent non-profit research and educational institute based in Washington, D.C., on Technology, citizens, governance, and impact.”
The Ministry says India’s advancements in fields such as artificial intelligence, mobile networks, and broadband significantly contributed to achieving this milestone. It also stated that the country is not only forwarding with technology but also expanding the scope of new research in AI, mobile networks, and broadband at the global level.
The United States retained its first position in the index as the leader, while Singapore retained the second position. South Korea jumped to the 5th position. Finland, Sweden and the United Kingdom held 3rd, 4th and 8th positions, respectively.
