WhatsApp User’s Can Now Control Group Privacy Settings
WhatsApp manufacturers are always working to add various new features to its messaging app. This time the newest update of this messaging app comes up with the enhanced group privacy settings. The company has finally decided to think about the users and make it possible for them to choose whether they would like to be added to a group for a conversation or not. This important feature has been previously introduced on the beta app from quite some time, now it has finally been introduced to the stable version of WhatsApp.
The new group privacy settings feature of WhatsApp will help the users to restrict their addition to random groups along with the introduction of the invite system into the mix. This feature basically means that it will allow you to be in charge of choosing who can add you to a new group conversation.
This feature is currently available for all WhatsApp users, and further below you can learn about how the group privacy settings work:
Controlling Group Privacy Settings
This latest feature of group privacy settings has been implemented to the existing privacy settings for your WhatsApp account. To use this feature of controlling group privacy settings, you must follow the steps shown below;
1. Go to the Settings present in the messaging app, WhatsApp, and navigate to the ‘Account’ and then select the ‘Privacy’ option.
2. After performing the above step, you will see the new ‘Group’ settings. By selecting the group option you will see that there are three very familiar options. While selecting the “Everyone” option, you will allow any and all the users to add you to any group conversation. By selecting “My Contacts”, you will allow only your contacts to add you to any group. Moreover, the “Nobody” option does not allow an admin to add you to any group conversation.
Now you must be thinking that if you just select the ‘Nobody’ option then you can never be added to any group conversation. Yes, you won’t be added to any random group and there will be no random hoax news distribution group. This process is going to be selective, which means that you have the option to decide whether you want to join the group or not.
If you have already selected the ‘Nobody’ option from the group privacy settings, then the admins who are trying to add you to a group conversation, will see an error message stating, “Couldn’t add [ABC] contact. You can invite them privately to join the group conversation”. If the admin still wants you to be present in the group, then you will get an invite from the admin. You can easily select from that you want to join that group or not by simply clicking on ‘accept’ or ‘decline’ feature.
This latest WhatsApp feature is pretty useful and would save you from a lot of troubles as you have the option of joining the group or not, rather than exiting from the ones you have been added to without your permission.
