Oneplus Launches A Series Of Affordable Smart TVs Starting At ₹12,999

Chinese tech giant OnePlus, on Thursday, made its way to the affordable smart TV segment with the launch of two new smart TV series, U1 and Y series, in India — the third-largest consumer market in the world. The company has a series of high-profile announcements in early July. Today, we’ve got the first of that series with the entry of OnePlus in the affordable smart TV segment by launching the OnePlus TV U1 and Y series.

The launching event takes place at a time of escalating border tensions between India & China following a violent face-off. The country is boycotting Chinese products, setting Chinese goods on fire, the ban on 59 Chinese apps, including Tik Tok, and the launch comes here. However, this anti-Chinese sentiment won’t hamper or seems to demolish the young brand’s foolproof planning to launch low-cost smart TVs in the country.

OnePlus introduced smart TVs starting price at ₹12,999 in virtual event due to COVID-19 pandemic. There has been a big change in the price when compared to the OnePlus Q1 series that was released at a starting value of ₹69,999 previous year. However, the OnePlus Q1 smart TV series managed to grab nearly 15% market share of the 55-inches and bigger TVs. As the company looks forward to manufacturing smart TVs in India, this OnePlus U1 & Y series smart TVs will bring a hope and pave an avenue to a more economical price segment. 

This new series of affordable TVs has three sizes — 55″, 43″, and 32″, the last being more popular in India. With some major changes, the panel size is changed, the resolution is also upgraded, but most of the features are the same in all the modes. The three new TVs have been released in India as Amazon exclusives and will also be available on OnePlus’s official website. Of the three, the OnePlus Y1 TV with 32-inch HD screen, will be the most affordable, price starting at ₹12,999. The size 32-inch is being so popular in Indian market, hence it’s clear that Indo-China border dispute won’t impact the sale. And, the 43-inch Full HD OnePlus Y TV is set at ₹22,999 by the company. Last but first among all three, is the OnePlus U TV. This brings the 4K quality with a 55-inch screen will be available for ₹49,999 with some astounding features, including thin-bezel.
