How To Delete Sent Mail From Receiver's Inbox In Gmail

Oops! You have sent the wrong Email to your boss in a hurry. What should you do now? Will you prepare yourself to get embraced in front of him or will you start looking for a new job? This might be risky but how will you overcome this situation. At this time you would wish to know: How to delete sent mail from the receiver's inbox in Gmail?

Today, every second person is a Gmail user. Maybe because Email is the fastest and the safest way of communication and sharing files and any sort of confidential data in this digital world. But what to do if you have messed with your Email. Though Email is a feature-loaded telecommunication service, therefore, there are 3.8 million Email accounts and the number is still growing rapidly. But does it contain an option to recall or retract an Email?

We have created this guide for the people like you who have messed with their Email and now are troubling and looking for the relevant way to prevent the complicated situation. So read the post till the end.

Well, certain Email programs offer this option, but there is no guarantee that the recipient won’t receive it. Although, there is some software also that claims to recall the email - but that only works if the receiver uses the same software as you, otherwise the receiver will receive the Email sent by you.

Gmails “Undo Send” feature works somewhere different. It gives you a chance to change your mind even after sending a message. But you have to be quick over your decision, as Gmail gives you only a certain time to halt your email.

However, the Undo Send feature is an official part of Gmail. Also, it is simple to use but needs quick action to recall your Email. Let’s see how this feature works:

Step-by-step Guide To Activate Undo Feature In Your Gmail-

  • Start with login into your account on your system.

  • Go to the Settings, in the upper right corner of the screen.

  • From the Setting menu, again click on “See all settings”.

  • From the Setting Window, make sure the General Setting tab is selected.

  • Look at the fourth number setting that says “Undo Send”.

  • Click the check box to Enable Undo Send.

    • You can also change the time for the send cancellation period as per your convenience. You can choose 5, 10, 20, 30 seconds to prevent the email from being sent. Click on the drop-box to change the settings.

  • Scroll down to the bottom of the setting screen to save the changes by clicking the “Save Changes” button.

This is how you can enable Undo Send feature to your Gmail account. It is better to check this feature before you repeat the mistake of sending an embracing email to your boss or manager and he will kick you out from the main door. Even though mistakes are a part of life, there is no space for mistakes in professional life.

To test the feature-

  • Compose an Email by clicking the compose button at the upper left corner of your Gmail account page.  (Of course, you must be familiar of this)

  • Compose an Email and click the send button.

  • As soon as you send the Email, you will see a message on the top of the screen, which says- “ Your message has been sent. Undo. View Message.

  • To recall the message, click Undo.

  • By doing this, you will prevent your message from reaching the receiver and will save in your drafts. In case you wish to make the changes and resend them.

The Undo Send feature is a handy way to prevent sending the wrong email to the wrong person. But if you have crossed the time limit you’ve set to Undo the message, your message will be out of your control and you can’t prevent it from reaching the receiver's inbox. So you need to be quick and alert as soon as you send the message.

All we’ll Say is - Be careful, what you send!

Otherwise, Be alert when you send! Because Gmail gives one chance to its users to rectify their mistakes.
