Easily accessible controls, user interfaces, and class-leading autofocus systems are other features of Canon cameras. Canon has recently launched the EOS R5 Mark II, which has quickly become the talk of the town among photographers. But is the Canon EOS R5 Mark II really that special? We are sharing a genuine Canon EOS R5 II review, so stay tuned to find out the truth.

Canon EOS R5 Mark II

The camera was launched in July, 2024 and will be available in August for sale. The camera will cost around Rs 4,05,995, which is pretty high. But the camera is very special. It’s a full-frame mirrorless camera that outperforms its predecessor, the EOS R5. This camera has groundbreaking features like high performance, a new 45MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor, and an Accelerated Capture image processor system.

Specification

Below are the main specifications of this Canon EOS R5 Mark II that every photographer would love.

  • 45MP stacked CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) sensor.
  • Eye-controlled AF subject selection
  • 30fps continuous shooting speed with blackout-free viewfinder.

Features

After learning the specifications of Canon EOS R5 Mark II it's time to review the features.

Eye Control AF

The Canon EOS R5 II has an improved version of Eye-control AF. It allows you to select a subject to focus on just by looking at it. When you half-press the shutter button or hit AF-On to focus, the camera will pick the subject you are looking at. This sensor has a wider field of view to monitor larger areas. It doesn’t matter if you wear glasses because the improved version of Eye-control AF has eyeglasses detection mode.

Digic Accelerator Co-Processor

The second feature of Canon Canon EOS R5 II Review is the Digic accelerator co-processor. It helps run complex exposure and white-balance algorithms to boost the fundamental functions of Canon EOS R5 Mark II. Due to the Digic Accelerator Co-Processor, the main processor of the camera can measure distance and communicate with the lens.

Pre-capture

This camera will allow you to capture up to 1/2 a second of action until you have half-pressed the button. It can also pre-capture 3 or 5 seconds of videos.

Action Priority Modes

The action Priority mode is one of the biggest features in this Canon EOS R5 II Review. All the modes are trained by machine learning on how various sports look, how the body of players are positioned and how the ball looks in specific moments. Due to this feature, Canon EOS R5 Mark II can follow the ball and figure out which player to prioritise according to the situation.

Pre-registered Person Priority

Pre-registered Person Priority is another feature on this Canon EOS R5 II review that professional photographers will enjoy. It allows the camera to register 10 sets of 10 people in memory. During the game, the camera recognises the pre-registered individuals and focuses on them. This feature can help click photos of specific players during a game.

Blur/Out-of-Focus Detection

A clever feature in the Canon EOS R5 Mark II is blur/out-of-focus detection. It enables the camera to identify how focused the chosen subject is in a photo or video. You need to activate the feature before starting shooting. The EOS R5 Mark II is not as fast as R1 but the 30fps shooting will definitely compel you to appreciate every single shot.

Anti-Flicker

There is an option to sync the camera’s shooting to match the brightest point of lights that flicker at 100 or 120Hz in response to 50 or 60Hz electricity. There is also an anti-flicker mode that monitors the flicker rate of light sources like LEDs and chooses the right shutter speed to minimise visible banding. However, using the anti-flicker mode slows down the camera’s shooting speed. For 100/120Hz flicker, the speed is 12-15 fps in e-shutter mode, 8.6 fps in electronic first curtain mode and 4.8 fps in mechanical mode.
