Spacex Achieves Its First Commercial Spacewalk
The SpaceX capsule known as Crew Dragon or Dragon, which carried four private citizens, made its landing on Sunday on the coast of Florida after successfully completing a historic mission. The mission was the world’s first all-civilian spacewalk, making it one of a kind. The crew spent five days in orbit, achieving a miraculous feat. The landing of the SpaceX capsule’s return to Earth was live-streamed on SpaceX, anchored by Elon Musk.
Jared Isaacman, the billionaire entrepreneur, provided financial support to the mission. He was also on the flight. Apart from him, SpaceX engineers Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon and the retired Air Force Lieutenant Col. Scott “Kidd” Poteet were in the crew, named Polaris Dawn Crew.

Polaris posted on X after the completion of the mission: “SpaceX and the Polaris Dawn Crew have completed the first commercial spacewalk! “SpaceX, back at home, we all have a lot of work to do, but from here, Earth sure looks like a perfect world,” - Mission Commander Jared Isaacman during Dragon egress and seeing our planet from ~ 738 km.”
After hitting the ocean, the spacecraft kept floating on the water until rescue crews hauled it out and performed safety checks. PTI (Press Trust of India) shared after the successful landing of the Polaris Dawn Crew that, Issacman became the 264th person to do a spacewalk, and Sarah Gillis of SpaceX was the 265th person. The first spacewalk was performed by the Soviet Union in 1965. Until now, the concept of spacewalk has only been preserved for professional astronauts.
