What Are New Wearables From Meta Shaping The Future?

Meta’s Connect conference took place on 25 and 26 September, when the CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the launch of new wearables. The announcement showcased Meta’s plan to shake the tech world and put users on a new computing platform.
Quest 3S
Meta introduced a new version of the virtual reality (VR) headset Quest 3, named Quest 3S. This headset is available starting at $299.99, a lower price than Quest 3. However, the Quest 3S doesn’t lack performance and offers high-resolution mixed reality features as its predecessor.
Hyperscape
Hyperscape is the latest technology on Quest 3 and Quest 3S that allows wearers to interact with spaces that seem to be physically there. Content creators especially benefit from this feature, which enables them to scan rooms and bring them into the digital world.
Llama 3.2
Meta also updated its Llama language model with Llama 3.2. This device can understand images and text and run on smartphones and smart glasses. It’s the first major vision model and an open-source LLM (Large Language Model).
Ray-Ban Meta Glasses
Meta introduced new Ray-Ban Meta glasses, which include Spotify, Audible, and iHeart. These glasses perform real-time speech translation and support Spanish, French, and Italian. Ray-Ban Meta glasses are even compatible with transition lenses, offering greater versatility.
Orion
Meta also unveiled its first prototype of AR (Augmented Reality) glasses, named Orion, which the company has been developing for 10 years. Weighing even less than 100 grams, these glasses boast a wide field of view and allow multitasking and entertainment on different screens. Some other features are voice controls, hand and eye tracking, and an EMG wristband.
Alongside new devices, Meta hasn’t forgotten to improve its AI assistant. Meta AI can now process visual information, so users can upload photos and ask questions using FB, WhatsApp, and Instagram. It also supports voice interaction for a much greater user experience.
