Apple To Launch AirTag 2 In 2025: What Can You Expect?

According to recent reports, Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is gearing up its new tracking device, AirTag. The first model, AirTag 1, was launched in 2021. This new device, AirTag 2, codenamed B589, will be introduced in mid-2025. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg shared that it's currently undergoing manufacturing tests.
According to Mark Gurman, the Second-Generation AirTag will have the same design as the current model, but major internal changes will occur. The AirTag 2 will have an enhanced tracking range, far superior privacy features, and a more powerful wireless chip.
There were some reports about selling silent AirTags, but removing the speaker from the new model would be far more difficult.

Gurman stated, “Since the device launched in 2021, some people have unfortunately used the product as a tool for stalking—and removing the speaker makes it less likely for someone to discover a hidden AirTag. Apple is contending with lawsuits over the device, and it’s in everyone’s interest to make the new model tamper-proof.”
AirTag is not the only device Apple will launch in 2025; a new smart home display and software updates are also rumoured. Apple is also expected to upgrade its iPad Air, entry-level iPad, MacBook Air, Mac Pro, Mac Studio, and iPhone SE. Further, there will be updates on iPhone, Apple Watch, and Macbook Pro devices.
