WhatsApp’s New Features Will Save Your Phone’s Storage!

Phone Slowing Down? WhatsApp Could Be the Reason!

‘Phone Storage Running Out’

How many times does this notification pop up on your smartphone? This basically comes because of unwanted data, cached files, and auto-downloaded media, leading to potential performance issues and the inability to install a new app. This can be irritating at times. Relax and worry no more, as we are here to resolve your storage space from unwanted media in your Gallery.

Whatsapp offers various features to enhance user experience and facilitate easy communication. For storage issues, automating storing of downloaded media files—such as photographs, videos, and documents in your phone’s Gallery. While this is helpful, it creates a mess in your gallery, especially when most of the media assets received are useless.

Mainly, without enough storage, there might be a problem in receiving or sending messages. But how do we resolve this issue?  Well, we are grateful that there are platform settings that allow users to stop unwanted media files from being saved automatically to your phone’s Gallery, either for all chats or a particular conversation.

Some easy steps to turn off Auto-download media files to save space.

  • Open WhatsApp on your phone.

  • Tap on the three dots menu at the top right corner to access all the options

  • From the drop-down menu, click on Settings

  • Go to Chats

  • Switch off the media visibility option. If you’re an iPhone user, go to the save to photos option.

When media visibility is off, no new file downloaded can enter your phone gallery and create a mess there, but this change does not hamper the existing files that were downloaded previously. After switching on Media Visibility, the user has to manually download any media they want to save.
