OnePlus Nord CE 4: Design And Display
The design of the OnePlus Nord CE4 is not very different from that of its predecessors. However, the phone now comes in two colours: Dark Chrome and Meladon Marble. Although both look nice, there is no option for a matte finish. The glossy look of the smartphone looks nice. However, the only caveat of having a glossy phone is that it becomes a fingerprint magnet, but truth be told, this is not the case with the OnePlus Nord CE 4 because of the light colour shades it comes with. This phone might be a little too big for people with small or normal-sized hands. Its 6.7-inch screen makes using it single-handedly a big task.
The phone's screen is a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, with a brightness of around 900 at normal and around 1100 at peak. This makes using the phone in daylight a bit of a challenge, and this brightness is also not at par with the competition in this price range. The screen's refresh rate is 120 Hz, making it extremely smooth in gaming scenarios and making app surfing much smoother.
OnePlus Nord CE 4: Camera
OnePlus Nord and OnePlus, in general, have always been good at camera performance, and this phone is no different. Unlike the older Nord CE 3, which had a triple-camera setup, this mid-range budget smartphone has a dual-camera setup. It features a 50-MP main camera and an 8-MP selfie camera. This camera unit might look similar to Nord CE lite 3, but it is a completely different unit with far better performance.
In daylight, the phone performs quite well. The images this phone takes have detail, and the colour tone and exposure are correct, making it a good phone for daily use. However, this is different from night-life performance. Although the photos are well-lit, the smartphone's dual camera setup still leaves much to be desired. For starters, the photos taken in low-light conditions have significant noise, and the details of the subject in the photo are a bit blurry. However, you can always use the Pro mode on the phone to take crisp night-time photos. But ensure you have a tripod or any means to keep the camera still.
OnePlus Nord CE 4: Performance
The new OnePlus Nord CE 4 specs suggest that the phone's performance will be robust, and it's not wrong to think that. The phone feels fast and snappy and can handle almost everything you can throw at it. From long gaming sessions to multitasking to normal daily usage and everything in between, it can easily handle everything. However, the back of the mid-range budget smartphone might get a little hot after extended gaming sessions.
When it comes to benchmark scores, the OnePlus Nord CE 4 does not disappoint. The phone churns out a benchmark score of 8,10,317 on the AnTuTu benchmark. The single-core score of the phone is 1,140, and the multi-core score is around 2979 on Geekbench.
This smartphone also has an Adreno 720 GPU, one of the best for mid-range budget smartphones like the Nord CE 4.
Final Verdict
The mid-range budget smartphone segment is cutthroat and has the most competitors. However, the new OnePlus Nord CE 4 stands out from the rest as it features a good chipset, GPU, cameras, battery, and GPU. The screen could be a little better, but it's doable for the price point. So, if you want to buy a new mid-range budget smartphone, the OnePlus Nord CE 4 might be a good choice.
