TikTok is a short video-sharing application. It is a Musical.ly social media app of the US. The reviews of TikTok were owned by Beijing ByteDance Technology which comes after US lawmakers. It raised concern about its collection of user data. The key features of TikTok are similar to Facebook’s Instagram, Snap’s Snapchat and Lasso. 

What is TikTok?

TikTok is an application that allows the users to upload short videos with special effects like dance, jump, and it also includes lip-sync to music in the app. For the users, it provides many different types of editing tools to simplify their edits via cell phones. It is one of the most popular apps across the world. According to the analytics firm Sensor Tower which is becoming the first Chinese-developed consumer app to achieve international scale. Nowadays, this app ranks fourth among the entire mostly used social app such as Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, etc.  
  
The reason behind the popularity of Tiktok

The success of TikTok in the US market can be largely assigned to its acquisition of the Musical.ly app. The users and the features of TikTok were added to its platform later. And the deal helped the monthly active users of TikTok. Increase by 30 million in the three months after the merger according to the app tracker Apptopia.

How important is the TikTok to ByteDance?

TikTok is the most successful platform of ByteDance outside China. The seven-year-old startup, that a source was valued at late last year owns the Chinese news aggregator. ByteDance booked revenue of CNY 50-60 billion better than the expectation for the first half of this year. This TikTok app is also popular in France, India, Australia, Canada, Britain, etc. 

What is the criticism present behind TikTok? 

The US Senator asked a US national security panel to review TikTok owner ByteDance Technology’s addition of Musical.ly discussing that the Chinese government uses TikTok to censor politically sensitive content. In a requesting letter, it was noticed that Hong Kong protests dominating international headlines of the protests for months. The Chief executive of Facebook says that the app censored political protests TikTok denies that the censors of China its content censors its content by saying that “it is not influenced by any foreign government.”
