Top 5 Dreamworks Movies Of All Time

Dreamworks Movies Of All Time

Real Dreamworks fans know how underrated and overshadowed the animation studio used to be. They were great with their first film out of the animation studio, Antz. However, the company has been through a lot over the years. They've been restructured and acquired by Universal while some of our favorite projects were postponed or cancelled indefinitely. These things caused Dreamworks to drop off into obscurity while studios like Pixar, Disney and Illumination soared ahead in the box office.

Through the good and the bad, Dreamworks has released some box office hits and some serious duds. Remember The Boss Baby or Bee Movie? Probably not.  But hits like Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda have had many fans in the seats and sequels to watch. We've combed through the Dreamworks movie library and handpicked the top five Dreamworks movies of all time, you can find most of these on cable TV providers like DISH and DirecTV as well as streaming service like Sling and AT&T Now. Keep reading to get nostalgic over some amazing movies and some movies you can add to your saved pandemic binge watch list.

2. Madagascar

Release Date: May 27, 2005

Madagascar is a story of four zoo animals who have spent their entire lives comfortably in captivity who suddenly are forced to adjust living in the wild in Madagascar. He had aspirations of wide open spaces, fresh air and grass, so he escaped the zoo. When his friends Alex the lion, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippo notice he’s missing, they leave Central Park Zoo to find him, only to be captured, crated and sent back to the wild together.
The Madagascar franchise has three movies, a spin-off movie, three TV shows, a collection of video games and even has a themed land at Universal Studios in Singapore. There was supposed to be a Madagascar 4 until Dreamworks unexpectedly removed the project from their schedule. It appears as though the movie has been unofficially cancelled since Dreamworks has been radio silent on the matter and has not released a statement about the movie.

3. Antz

Release Date: October 2, 1998

Antz is a story focused on the life and aspirations of worker ant Z. He's a characteristically anxious ant who wants nothing more in his life than to break away from his colony's societal norms so he can finally be noticed by the woman he loves; Princess Bala. His worker status and her princess status has Z in an impossible position where he’ll never be noticed if he remains as a worker ant.

In order for Shrek to restore his once quiet home back to normal, he must help the fairy tale characters return back home.
